I started my business in 1983 after receiving a B.S. Degree in Design and Drafting Technology (1980) from Kean College in Union, NJ and working for couple of other woodshops.
In 1988 I was fortunate to have the opportunity to move into the building pictured above and to purchase it in 1998.
A brief history – The property was known as Demarest Stables in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, it became “The Tunis Bogert Furniture Factory” in 1916 later to become “Bogert Built Furniture”. In 1993 Tunis’s grandson, Richard Bogert, retired; he was the last in his family to want the business which dated back to 1849 known at that time as Cooper Chair Factory in Bergenfield, NJ.
I do consider myself blessed to be able to carry on the tradition of woodworking here in Westwood, New Jersey at this historic space.
